Those lifeforms most adept to survive, survive. That's natural eugenics, survival of the fittest.
But you are correct, there is no 'natural eugenics' because our technology has advanced far enough to inhibit it.
Which is what I said...
Evolution automatically rewards superior traits (for survival).

I was doing some reading on wiki and came across this interesting paragraph

Basically diseases we see as negative can actually be beneficial and actually lead to immunity to other diseases.

heh eradicating what is perceived as an undesirable trait by eugenics is almost like removing or adding a species to an ecosystem, you may not know what the side effects will be in the long run.
