that's the thing...there is no way Detroit is winning that series..but I don't necessarily watch hockey just to see who is victorious out of a series..I watch it because I like watching entertaining games...but when the officiating is that bad it takes all of the enjoyment out of a series

Gtfo. Seeding is not that important in the nhl.

A team that is better than another team through out the season is not a better team in the end? Sure there are anomalies, but if what you say is true then NHL is one of a kind!

I was hoping Dallas would beat Anaheim. Jim Nill is the shit - I wish he was the GM of the Red Wings instead of Ken Holland. Jim Nill as GM and Jeff Blashill as head coach would be awesome.
Anaheim is basically a one-line wonder. Doubt they make it past next round.

You're right - I had no idea seeding makes no difference in Hockey! I mean Piss on home "ice" advantage...

you are right in that I am right, and you are not. "not that important" != makes no difference. sure, most teams would probably prefer to have home ice but that still doesn't make seeding all that important. #1 seeds get knocked out in the 1st and 2nd rounds all the time. (some players have said they actually like opening on the road)
and besides, the nhl playoffs are figuratively known as a second season because games are generally tighter checking, lower scoring, and very close regardless of the seeding. teams go in hot and get wrecked, and some go in awful and rape. there is never an easy matchup for the #1 seed. there is a great deal of parity nhl and the weakest team in the league can beat the best in any given night since it's such a team centric sport and even the worse teams are still full of nhl caliber players and strictly coached (well maybe not edmonton).
colorado went from last in the west last season to winning the central and 2nd in the west this year. many people even thought anaheim would or had a good chance of bowing out in the first round.

Home ice makes a huge difference since the coach decide the last what lines he puts in the ice so the #1 line isnt always vs the defensive line (4th usually)

Short change too. That's a big advantage in the 3rd. _________________ “Imagine If You Wrapped A Percocet In A Slab Of Bacon, Fed It To A Woolly Mammoth, And Shouted ‘Dance, Hairy Boyfriend, Dance’ – That’s Torche.” -- Mike Huckabee

oh, i don't think they are highly underrated. they faced a scrub team in the flyers and another scrub team that collapses perennially in the playoffs in the pens..
