Sappy told me to do:
1) th, f, rax, rax
2) f, f, f, (i dont know how many)
3) smith
Rest Gold. You can go 12 Peons and get level 5 and maybe chop with 1. I don't Peon stop, though - I just keep pumping Peons and put them on Wood a little more.

from my experience u have 2 options:
1 - rush really hard with major peon stoppage (like 10 or 11) so u get the max amount of grunts out of your 30k or
2- peon stop early but keep building peons later on so when u expand, it doesn't take long to get back into the game.
i usually do the first one since more often than not my expanding attempts get ROCKED.
i don't think doing anything in between the two is really useful

If you don't stop Peons at all you will be MAYBE one or two grunts behind to level 3. To level 5 you will be ahead. Usually I'll chop 8 early so I don't have to worry with it. If the other guy rushes level 5 with me he's usually Mages when I am halfway there or so.

"To level 5 you will be ahead"
Just seeing if I read that correctly...
I'm not following your reasoning.

...when you reach level 3 and you are s9 doing my rush you will be a couple grunts behind the other person who is doing turtlemang's rush. But by level 5 you will be ahead in grunts.

Oh I see. In comparison to other s9 strategies.
