$10/month donation wanted for gamebot hosting
Well, practical offer from me:
GameBot worked on the mousEy's hosting for several months, all of us see how it works.
What worked fine mostly, but sometimes it have been disconnected and reconnected, sometimes there were latency problems in hosted games.
Now the server is down temporary because of dead cooler of w/e.
That's why:
Let's start windows-vps hosting for the bot. It will cost $10 per month.
Who can help with that?
award could be discussed, something like a block of thanks with your nickname in the main server.war2.ru page. _________________ War2Combat 3.05: http://war2.warcraft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=264401 (13 Mb)

How would we donate? Paypal?
Also, would it be better to just donate to have a real programmer fix hosting for everyone? or is that too expensive? _________________

Paypal, webmoney.
Well, i have no programmers to fix hosting, but i have some ideas and plans how to do it myself. Should cover about 90% problem clients... _________________ War2Combat 3.05: http://war2.warcraft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=264401 (13 Mb)

uhm. why not just distribute a VMWare Windows 2000/XP ISO that people can run. Thats what I would do. With the port changing thing, I could easily host 10 hosting bots on my home machine that is connected via a 50/10MBit connection. I never have issues hosting and it would not interfere with my own game playing at all.
This way, anyone who is capable of setting up the registry entry that Tupac alerted me to several months back that allows multiple people from the same network to play at once, can be host bot hosts. All I would need is your host bot code or I can always make one of my own. Having a hosting bot is not a big deal, certainly not big enough to require donations. We all have connections capable of hosting multiple games at once. Get people different regions and you can cover the whole globe without the need for a server at all.
How would this be done? Simple. VMWare/VirtualBox + Registry port modification that changes the War2 port from 6112 to whatever the host wants to use. I have tested this myself and it works flawlessly. Not everyone can do it, but it would only need a few people to hosts bots and it would increase game hosting potential 10 fold.
Not to mention I'd also modify the code some because the current host bot lacks a lot of features that it really should have. Or just make a new one from scratch.
However, Hosting bots in my opinion are just a bandaid until someone comes up with an IPX or VPN/Nat Traversal fix that works without latency issues. Voobly and Kali come to mind. UPnP fixes more clients than iL will ever admit to. IDK why he thought it would never work when I proved it did.
