Better in the fact that there exists more than one race which makes the game play more varied in that respect. Also hugely better in terms of control (rally points, shift clicking, etc) and of course the campaign (but that's not why we play these games).
But the way War2 is designed it allows the game to have hugely different maps, which I think makes the game more interesting. Plus there is much less emphasis on "death balls" in War2. Tower wars/peon hopping/raxing etc is more deep/fun in War2 than the analogous things in SC2. It also seems to be better resistant to early rush cheeses (i.e. not OT'ing) due to the combination of wall-ins being so prevalent and the HP of buildings being so high relative to the early game unit attacks. I also love the use of strategic building placement throughout the map which is necessary for a good War2 player, but in SC2 it doesn't make sense to try such things usually. War2 is seemingly also the better team game, since players can more easily hold off double/triple teams than in SC2.
SC2 games seemingly focus a lot on rock-paper-scissors unit balancing, just amounting to constant scanning/scouting/etc to try and design the perfectly composed death ball and then move your death ball around in a way to strategically engage your opponent's death ball using perfect micro. I like how War2 is a little more forgiving, so there will be less "build-order losses" for the good players. The emphasis is less on counting how many drones/roaches/banes/lings/mutas some one has, hot-keying various groups of different pieces of your death ball + microing the fuck out of each battle, and more on simple game mechanics/strategies. SC2 is by far a deeper game, but by far a less fun game to try and play optimally. _________________ Wartoo
