doctors
so a couple of months ago I had some pain in my groin area and something that felt swollen under my skin. After waiting a week and still feeling pain I went to see a doctor who told me that I had a hernia and referred me to a surgeon. I went to see the surgeon he also told me I had a hernia and I would need to get surgery to have it fixed. After shopping around I found a less expensive surgeon who specializes in hernia surgery and traveled out of state to get it done because I was saving $3000 dollars by driving 7 hours. Anyway I just saw the surgeon who was going to do the operation and he told me I most definitely do not have a hernia and that basically the last surgeon who saw me was an idiot.
Don't know why I'm posting this here just felt like venting about how stupid the whole process has been, I've spent about $500 on what turned out to be nothing, just seems like something like a hernia would be hard to misdiagnose. Any thoughts?

go back to the doctors that misdiagnosed you and say you want your office visit money back or else you'll slander their names on the interweb.

More often, when you or a relative of yours have a medical situation and have been badly diagnosted what people look for is to find a solution first, rather than create mayhem to the mentioned doctor, unless the result of the diagnostic is death, or the loss of an organ.

i shattered my collar bone about 9 years ago. first doctor said it was unrepairable and that i would spend the rest of my life with a "gimp" shoulder/arm the rest of my life
got a second opinion .. doctor fixed it no problem, went through basic training, weight lifting, and currently construction with 100% range of motion... almost as if it never happened ( with the exception of a plate, screws, and a scar that i never notice ) _________________

some doctors are good.. a lot aren't .. what pisses me off the most is when they don't know whats wrong or how to fix it, they don't admit to it. you will probably never hear a doctor say "to be honest, im not sure what's going on .. but this other doctor probably does and i recommend you contact him" _________________

I have seen about 15 different doctors in the last 3 years, and believe me, they would rather throw out a wrong diagnosis than say they have no idea what's going on. Lots of educated idiots out there.

Actually I was having internal back pain for like a year and finally went to a doctor for it. After 5 office visits and a barrage of tests the doctor tells me I'm in perfect health and she doesn't know what's wrong with me. Ofc the pain's still there and they did nothing for me yet I'm charged a shit load for all the tests.

Doctors love to play god with people. I'm surprised they aren't often killed by misdiagnosed patients that have a terminal illness that could have been prevented.

If you guys havent figured out through all of your collective experience, the health care industry is a money making industry and I'm sure they made their money off each and every one of you with their expert, 90k college doctorate degrees.
While it's often more expensive in the beginning, a second opinion can offer you more insight as well as possibly prevent useless subsequent procedures. _________________ I don't think anyone has unlimited time, and that seems like a particularly strange conclusion to draw from about 20 minutes worth of posting on a message board. Well spending all this money to see one doctor really discourages me from spending $500 on another for them to also tell me they also don't know what's going on.
I'm sure a lot of people get misdiagnosed and don't want to spend the money on another evaluation and that's one reason why the healthcare in this country is garbage.

not really. Have you ever seen mystery diagnosis? I only have one thing wrong with me, but no doctor can pin point why it's happening.

Can you not afford health insurance? I pay ~$140/month and Doctor visits cost me $25 co-pay, even specialists. No bill later. You bought an expensive R. C. toy surely you can afford this.

he spent $120 on a toy, so if he was lucky enough to pay as little as you do for health insurance (which he probably isn't, since its obviously not offered through his employer) that would almost pay for a whole month of health insurance. wow, and you expect me to feel sorry for you?!?! you call that poor!?!??! you probably have a TV too you fucking lazy poor piece of shit _________________

I pay a lot for health insurance. You can get coverage for ~$50/month. I'm sure without the same cost effectiveness that mine offers, but you can go to the doctor and find out what is wrong.
