Well, I had my worst round ever. It wasn't at all due to my play but was entirely due to my adaptability... this was the worst round for selling tech ever and I just kept selling tech instead of converting. Ended up selling millions, literally millions of tech, for the low low price of $999. Finished #26 though I would've finished #24 if I hadn't taken a turn with no food at the end haha. I can run the same strat again and finish top 3... if prices are OK. If they're not... still not totally sure how to handle.

one of my allies, the guy who finished first in fact - and i've allied him before - he converted and won the round. he's a real pro though, and i'm not as good as him, and also, he cheap-assed me and didn't tell me he was converting and got like 200k+ tech from our research alliance ahahah

Yah, people usually convert to casher though. Start doing tech and you can get most of the tech you'll need for the round without having to buy it. Then if tech prices are low you switch your buildings to cash buildings. Theocracy is good for this because they have a building speed bonus and a population bonus.
But I couldn't decide when would be the right time to do it, and felt like my buildings per turn (60) was too low to revamp my whole country, and I kept hoping prices would come back up. Whoops.

What we should do, is have one of us go techy, the other heavy industry, and the other a casher. Have research alliances, trading and defensive/offensive.
It would be quite easy to take the top in that case, imo.

i strongly disagree with your opinion. utopia is pointless and boring.
one kingdom says "hey we're going for honor" and another says "uh hey we want to have high networths" and another says "we're going to war!" and meanwhile none of them even care about the other stuff, one might not give a shit about honor, another might just fight fake wars, etc. and the game is easy and all it comes down to is logging in twice a day to make an attack and you'll be the star of your kingdom.
earth requires intricate strategies and has a discrete goal: winning.
utopia still exists, it's at www.utopia-game.com while earth:2025 is now called earth empires and is at www.earthempires.com and neither is owned or run by mehul anymore.

why even get troops.. just join gdi so you aren't exposed to guerrilla attacks and build enormous amount of jets for offense.
who did you even attack that you needed 7 million military units to break the defense..?

I've tried attacking all sorts of people, last round and this round, and I never seem to break defenses. This was the first time I ever did and it took me 7 mil units. I've sent 2 mil jets before and still not gotten in.

1 jet = 1 turret. also 2 jets = 1 tank and 1 jet = 2 troops.
but usually in express you just have to worry about turrets and jets.
spy on them first and you can see how many turrets they have and figure out what you need to send. there's bonuses from weapons tech and for dictatorships.
then there's relations. defensive allies can add 25% of their own defenses, and the guy being attacked can have his defense get up to doubled.
but when it all comes down to it, it's really simple. you just send 100k more jets on a planned strike than they have turrets and you win almost every time.
another quick trick ive picked up on is if you send the number of jets equal to their networth, you basically always win.

Well, got 6th. Would've been 5th if my ally hadn't gotten attacked in the last 30 minutes and killed 200k of my networth.
Also, played the market a bunch and lost, or else I could've finished probably even more spots higher than I did.
